A Great Quote From a Great Book

In the story A Christmas Carol written by Charles dickens, there is a quote near the end of the first stave.  the quote was said by Marley’s ghost, who, is the man that tells Scrooge about what is to happen, says and it goes like this, “Mankind was my business.  The common welfare was my business; charity, mercy, forbearance, and benevolence, were, all my business.  The dealings of my trade were but a drop of water in the comprehensive ocean of my business.“  What this quote means to me is that this man who was Marley, made sure that everyone was first that what he did, his business, was giving to other people and putting them first.  That is why he said the common welfare was my business, charity, mercy, and benevolence.  He is saying to Scrooge hat he needs to be like that, he needs to be like that and change his ways so that other people are more important to him then money, or himself.  that is what The quote of Marley’s ghost means to me.

The Giver’s Sameness

The Giver, a book by Lois Lowry, is a book themed on sameness in the community and one boy, Jonas, breaking free of all of them after being chosen to become a receiver.  Sameness is dealt with throughout the book in a good way and in bad ways, so, thankfully, this eliminates biased in the book.  Some advantages of sameness are that no one will stick out by their looks, and you can only judge someone by their personality, which, in our world today, has been fading off.  Although, color was valued by Jonas so much, that he would try to hold it in for as long as he could when he first got it, and would beg the Giver to give it back to him.  So, color intrigues him, and he is trying to share it with other people.  There community needed color, but unfortunately, only Jonas could hold on to it.  Sameness was a big part of his community, but, it was a good part, or a thing that they should keep having.

Reading, Praying, and Spreading

The most important thing that you could ever do in this life on earth, is read the bible, pray to God, and talk to other people about him. I know, as a 7th grader, one of the toughest things that I deal with is fitting in, and I know that that is tough for everyone from elementary schoolers, to adults, you just don’t wanna stick out. Talking about the Bible, and the word of God is one of the last things you want to do around your friends, so, that’s why i post on my bog about it a lot, I can spread the word, and I can still feel comfortable about it. So, if you know that you need to spread the word, but you are to shy, find a nice comfortable place, and it will get out.

My veiw, on the swine flu. . .

I think that the swine flu isn’t being handled in the correct way.  Too many people are making such a big deal about it, when it doesn’t kill anybody!  It is just a sickness that people get just like the common cold.  The fact of the matter is that everybody that gets sick now has an automatic reaction to say “It’s the swine flu!”  I was sick very recently, less than a week actually, and i thought that it was the swine flu because everybody in the U.S., and even the world got so worked up about, but, later, I looked into the symptoms of the swine flu, and the only thing that i had was a cough, sore throat and headache.  so that is only 2 or 3 of the symptoms.  Do you see what I am getting at?  Not everyone gets it, and its not life threatening.  Let’s put our time and focus into something that actually kills people like cancer.  Shall we?

a great story, about a great man

This is my story that i wrote in class about Sean Taylor. If you dont know who he was, he was a Defensive Back for the Washington Redskins. There are some confusing words in here, that’s because it was for Caesar’s English.

In Loving Memory . . .

November 27, 2007 was a very doleful day for the country of football fans everywhere. Even if you didn’t know who the vivacious man that would be lost that day, Sean Taylor #21. He was the free safety for the Washington Redskins. He wasn’t an ostentatious football player who wouldn’t be like Terrel Owens and do anything for the spotlight, he did his job. He also proved that he wasn’t indolent, because he was an All-American football player in ‘07 and a two time pro bowler. There was a memorial ceremony held with the football team and family members a few days after his death, and this is the reason for this picture. It was audible, and inevitable that they missed him, in fact, that next game, they had ten guys on the field instead of 11, and they all wore the number 21, just to remember this great man that was, Sean Taylor.

Here is a link to a slide show of some of his career pictures

A powerful statement: DO NOT JUDGE

I heard a story a few weeks ago about a white man and a black man in a restaurant and this is how it went. . .

A white man walked into a restaurant and found a black man sitting in a seat. So the white man says, “No colored’s allowed!”                                                                                                                                                As the black man heard this, he stood up and said, “Listen sir, when im born im BLACK, when I grow up i’m BLACK.  When I’m cold im BLACK.  When I’m sick I’m BLACK, when I’m burnt I’m BLACK.  When I’m bruised, that area stays BLACK.  When I die, I’ll be BLACK, but you sir, when your born your PINK, when you grow up your WHITE.  When your sick your GREEN, when your cold your BLUE.  When your burnt your RED. When your bruised that area turns BROWN.  When you die, you’ll turn PURPLE.  Now which one of us is colored?  I’d say that it’s you.”  The black man sat down, and the white man walked away.

I’m not sure about you, but that story means a lot to me.  The white man judged the black man, and it ended up biting him in the butt.  He was proven wrong, and hopefully learned a lesson.  Something else i have to share with you is a verse from the BIBLE, Colossians 3:11 says, There is no Greek or Jew, circumcised, or uncircumcised, barbarian or Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Notice how I underlined the phrase slave or free because that verse wasnt in affect when the top story took place.  This verse says that we shouldn’t count someone out because you think their differnet, because THERE NOT!!!!!  Christ is all, and is in all, which means that we are all the same in his mind, and it should be that way in all our minds.

We Are The CHAMPIONS, My Friends!!

Yes it’s true, the Pittsburgh Penguins are 2009 Stanley Cup CHAMPIONS!  They got revenge on the redwings this year as they beat them in 7 games in this order:  Det, Det, Pitt, Pitt, Det, Pitt, Pitt.  Last year the Detroit Red Wings deafeted them in the finals.  There is a pretty funny, yet very sad thing that happened.  One of the players from last years Penguins team left them instead of re-signing his contract, and guess who he signed with. . .  the Detroit Red Wings!!!  I feel bad for that guy because he now has lost 2 years in a row, and he has lost with both of the teams.  (Maybe he’s just bad luck and whatever team he’s on will lose.)  Either way, the Pittsburgh Penguins are Stanley Cup CHAMPIONS!!!
